CPAP mask problems

Many people when faced with a problem with the use of their Cpap equipment decide to quite and look for other ways to treat their sleep apnea. But is this the best solution? Doubtful…

If you are one of this people, I want to encourage you to educate yourself, read more on the topic.. Why? Because if you manage to overcome those problems you can continue using the cpap treatment.
All you have to do is find a way to reduce the side effects that may come with using the cpap equipment either a cpap mask or a cpap machine (no matter what brand it is there is always this possibility and you better be ready for that).

Lets first talk about what problems you may have:

The most common CPAP problems are:
- irritation of the bridge of the nose
- air leakage around the mask
- mask discomfort

Very often the problems come from the fact that the mask size or shape / type do not match your facial forms. If the headgear is not the right one then obvious you will feel

Your CPAP mask is the most important part in the cycle of the CPAP therapy and treatment. You have to make sure you can get a mask that really fits you well. This is more important than chosing a brand of CPAP mask. It is also very often the biggest challenge people face when trying to buy CPAP mask. You better try the mask with your CPAP running to find if it has any leaks.

When you try a mask on you should feel comfortable with it from the first time and not have to get used to it. In general, the smallest one that fits you is the way to go.

If your mask fits properly, you dont need to tighten the straps every night to irritate the bridge of the nose. If you still have a leak, you might try putting a soft material between your skin and your mask, or you can use a special tape that can be taped on the mask. If you have a silicone mask, dont forget to change it every time you will feel the mask fits poorly or leaking. With an old mask, your skins health may be in danger, because skin abrasions from an old mask are difficult to heal.
